Trackerless BitTorrent Coming Soon

Posted in rants, tech on July 20th, 2005 by Mark Ramsey

This will change everything. If you allow the masses the ability to create trackerless bittorrents, it will be so easy to distribute anything on the net. However, it may be difficult to find good seeding. I wonder how we can tackle that?

Gobstoppers, Wonka Bars & Oompa Loompas

Charlie & the Chocolate Factory

I just returned home from viewing Charlie and the Chocolate Factory at the Alamo Village. I laughed the whole time. Johnny Depp, Tim Burton, and the greatness of Deep Roy as the Oompa Loompas. I think they did a great job in remaking one of my favorite films. I was glued to the screen with dazzling effects that I was happy to see were not overdone. Do not wait for video on this one. I may have to go to San Antonio to see it in IMAX.

There are good people out there.

I just got back from HEB. My dumb ass left my cell phone and his PDA in the friggin’ shopping cart. Sure enough, some angelic person turned them in to Lost and Found. Whoever it was, thank you thank you. And that’s for renewing my faith in humanity.

Boondock Two

Boondock Saints

One of my favorite movies ever Boondock Saints has a sequel in production Boondock II: All Saints Day. I pretty excited about it, my friend Amy told me tonight because one of the actors, Sean Patrick Flanery brought his dog into her vet clinic today. I went to the IMDB to see what he was doing these days and saw the news about the sequel, I hope it gets released soon. Serious violence is always fun on the big screen.

What a way to wake up.

This morning was horrible. What’s that noise? Someone in the shower? Nope, it was a toilet upstairs that had been overflowing for quite a while. I rushed to turn the water off to the comode. After that, I ran downstairs to find it raining in my kitchen. What a morning. What a way to wake up.

Soulhat Reunion Show

Posted in atx, austin, live music on July 8th, 2005 by Mark Ramsey

Soulhat played an awesome accoustic reunion show last night at Antone’s. It took me back to that courtyard in Paris 12 years ago when I first heard Soulhat.

In the Summer of 1993, I was drinking heavily at a youth hostel in Paris, France. I heard this great guitar sound coming out of this hippy’s boombox. He said his name was Jordan and he was from Boston.

“It’s Stinkpot, Soulhat,” he said.

“Stinkpot Soul Hat?”

“No…the band is Soulhat, they are from Austin, TX.”

I laughed and yelled, “I’m 200 miles away!”

When I got back to Dallas I opened the paper to see what bands were playing. Soulhat at Club Dada. I was hooked. That’s why last night was so much fun. I had seen these guys play dozens of times but I had not realized how good they actually were. Austin has really missed this band. Tonight they are playing plugged in at Antone’s, you shouldn’t miss it.
